Equipment Needed
2 Bowling Pins (substitute poles for bowling pins if needed)
2 Sacks

Rope (to tie people together for the 3-legged race)
Setup
Establish a starting line. Put one bowling pin
25 feet* away from the starting line. Put the
other bowling pin 50 feet from the starting line.
*Feel free to adjust the distance so that it’s age and ability appropriate
Object of the game
Complete each of the three races as fast as you can

- Ok everyone – I need you to split into two teams. Team 1 will start on the left and Team 2 will start on the right. We’re going to race two or three different times at this station. Race #1 is the Sack Race (have them line up and pass out 1 sack to first person in line on each team).
- When I say go, you’re going to race around the pins Figure 8 style (explain to them what that means if its unclear).
- Please be careful not to bump the other team while you’re going around the pins. Remember, the first team to have all their teammates hop across the finish line wins (Start the race).
- Ok now – Race #2 is the Egg on the Spoon race. You’re going to go around the pins again Figure 8 style. If you drop the egg, there’s a 3 second penalty. You must freeze for 3 seconds after picking up the egg (Start the race).
- Now, Race #3 is the 3-legged race. Please choose a partner you would like to race with against the other team. Once you’ve chosen a partner, we’re going to tie your legs together with this rope (tie legs together).
- Same rules, Figure 8 style (Start the Race).
*For best results, try to make sure the partners are around the same height.
Points
- Award 1 point to the team that wins each race
Circular Freeze Tag
Equipment Needed
Tug of war ropes
Setup
Take all the ropes and make one giant
circle with them.
Object of the game
Freeze (or tag) the other team as fast as possible

- Ok we’re going to split into two teams, the ‘Freezers’ and the ‘Dodgers’ (split teams)
- Ok – Freezers, I want you to stand anywhere you want outside the circle and ‘Dodgers’ you can stand anywhere inside the circle away from the Freezers when possible (let them position themselves for 20 seconds).
- Ok – ‘Dodgers’ I’m going to appoint one of you who will be the Doctor. Only the person who is the doctor can unfreeze teammates after they’ve been frozen. If the Doctor is Frozen, anyone from the “Dodgers” can unfreeze the Doctor.
- When everyone from the “Dodgers” team is frozen, then the game is over, and we will record your time, then switch sides.
- The team who freezes every member the other team the fastest wins.
Points
- Award 3 points to the team that wins and 1 point for the 2nd place team.
Obstacle Course
Equipment Needed
2 plastic ladders
50 ft of String
Obstacle Course inflatable

Stakes
5 Hula Hoops
Setup
Left size:
- Place two plastic ladders next
to each other (for high knees football drill)
- Place 5 hula hoops in a staggered line
about 3 feet apart* (for frog jumping)
*Feel free to adjust the distance
so that it’s age and ability appropriate
Middle:
- Obstacle Course inflatable
Right Side:
- Place green stakes in the ground in
two parallel lines about 6 feet apart.
Tie the stakes together in a random
pattern (for military style crawl)
- Bend Pool Noodles into a U shape
and stake them into the ground
(to create hurdles)
Object of the game
Complete the obstacle course as fast as possible.

- Ok we’re going to split you into two teams. Team 1 will start on the left and team 2 is going to start on the right (line up teams in 2 lines).
- Team 1 is going to start on my left. Team 2 listen carefully, because you’re going to do the same obstacles, but in reverse.
- First, you’re going to high knee yourself through the ladders. Knees to chest if possible. (older kids only: If you touch the ladder, you’ll have to start over.)
- Then you’re going to run to the next obstacle and jump from hula hoop to hula hoop. (older kids only: If you touch the ladder, you’ll have to start over.)
- Next you’re going to run through the obstacle course inflatable as fast as you can
- Then you’re going to military crawl under the string
- And finally you’re going to jump over the pool noodle hurdles
- Again, Team 2, you’re going to do the same thing but just in reverse
- When you finish all the obstacles and cross the start line, the next person from your team will start.
- If at any point 2 people are attempting the same obstacle, the person who gets there 2nd has to wait for it to be completed before they can start the obstacle…except when that obstacle is the inflatable obstacle course in the middle. Two people can share that obstacle (get teams ready and start).
Points
- Award 3 points to the team that wins and 1 point for the 2nd place team.
Battle Paper Rock Scissors
Equipment Needed
15 Hula Hoops (at least)
Setup
Put the hula hoops next to each other in a U shape with each hula hoop 2 inches away from the next

Object of the game
Hop forward through the hoops as fast as you can until you’re in the hoop next to your team. Play Paper, Rock, Scissors to determine who has to hop out of line, and who keeps jumping. The player who makes it to the starting line of the other team scores a point for their team.

- We’re going to split you into two teams. (stand each team at one end of the hula hoops.
- At the start of the game, the first person from each end will start hopping through each hoop until they are in hoops right next to each other.
- When that happens, a battle starts, and you must play rock-paper-scissors until someone wins.
- Whoever loses the battle must run to the back of their team’s line and let the first person in line on their team try and stop the winner from reaching their starting line.
- If at any point in the game one of you battles their way through the opposing team and reaches the hoop at their starting line, then that team scores a point for their team.
Jump Rope

Object of the game

- We’re going to split you into two teams (split into teams)
- Each team will choose a rope, the big one or the bigger one, and we’ll start twirling it for you.
- The game is simple, the team who gets the most people jumping under the rope at the same time wins.
- You can choose to start outside of the rope and jump in or next to the rope when we start twirling.
- We’ll give you three attempts to get as many people as you can jumping under the rope before we switch teams. If someone on the team stops the rope from twirling, that counts as an attempt.
- The team that has the highest number of team members jumping under the rope at the same time wins.
Team Tic-Tac-Toe
Equipment Needed
4 Red Jerseys
4 Blue Jerseys
Stakes and String (or 9 Hula Hoops)
Setup
Tie each jersey into a ball. Construct a tic-tac-toe
board using string and stakes.
Object of the game
Get Tic-Tac-Toe

- We’re going to split you up into two teams, Red and Blue. Red will be known as X’s and Blue will be O’s.
- This game is Tic-Tac-Toe except we’re playing with red and blue jerseys instead of X’s and O’s
- When I say go, the first person in line will grab an X or O and place it on the board, then run back to the starting line and tag the next person on their team.
- The next person will take a piece and place it on the board. We’ll continue this pattern until someone has Tic-Tac-Toe or all the pieces are gone.
- If all the pieces are gone, and you have been tagged. You must go down and move one of your team’s pieces to the empty square.
- The game will continue until someone gets tic-tac-toe
Connect 4 Basketball
Equipment Needed
Connect 4 Basketball poles
42 basketballs
Sandbags / Weights

Setup
Establish a starting line with the cones. Place
the ‘Free throw line’ 15-20 feet from the
starting line. Place the Connect 4 game board

Assembly of the game board
There are two sets of 8 poles that are approximately the same size. Connect those poles together first. Grab the 2 of longer sets of poles and place them in the base joint (the one without the big curved end on it) to create the foundation. Now, attach the four smaller sets of poles to the foundation to create the base. Add pole with the big curved end to the base and add the last two sets of long poles to finish the frame. Lastly, slip the Velcro game board onto the big curved poles and attach Velcro to all of the poles. Once assembled, create a free throw line 8-15 feet from the game board and place sandbags/weights on the foundation to prevent it from tipping over.
Object of the game
Get Connect 4 with Basketballs

- We’re going to split you into two teams, Orange vs Blue.
- Each team will sprint from the starting line towards the free throw line.
- You can shoot from anywhere behind the free throw line. If you make it, I will hand a ball to the next person in line on your team.
- If you miss you have to get your own rebound and pass it to the next person in line.
- First person to get Connect 4 with the basketballs wins.
(Important notes for Connect 4 Basketball: 1) It’s best to stand at the starting line and hand out one ball at a time when someone makes a basket to prevent chaos. 2) To restart the game after a team wins, lift the game board up and collect the basketballs from underneath the game.
Water Balloon Toss
Equipment Needed
Reusable Water Balloons
Setup
Place water balloons in one of the bins
Object of the game
If there are enough water balloon for 2 person teams, then the object is to be the last team that doesn’t drop the water balloon. If playing relay style (10+ people per team), then the object for each team to line up next to each other and pass the water balloon
Rules (2 person teams)
- First, we’re going to divide into teams of two players each.
- Now grab your teammate and stand four feet apart to begin.
- When I say go, you’re going to toss the balloon to your teammate who is going to try and catch it in their hands.
- If your team catches it and the balloon doesn’t break, then you will advance to the next round.
- If the balloon hits the ground but doesn’t pop, then you’re still in the game too.
- The team that can throw the water balloon the farthest without it breaking, wins.
Zorb Racing
Equipment Needed

Inflate the zorbs. Use three cones to establish

Object of the game
The Roll (or flip) your way to the finish line (relay style)

- We’re going to split into two teams
- The first person from each team is going to put on the zorb. The two (or 3 people if they’re small) who are next in line are the helpers who will roll the zorb and person across the turnaround line and back.
- The game ends when everyone on your team has been rolled back and forth once (and 1 extra person twice if the teams are uneven).
Steal the Bacon
Equipment Needed
1 Football
8-10 Zorbs
14 – 16 Cones
Setup
Make a half court sized rectangle with the cones
and add a center line. In the center of the playing
area, place a football and leave zorbs on each side
of the field.
Object of the game
Kick the football to your side of the field for one point

- Everyone playing must wear a zorb at all times
- Each team must start behind the line on their side of the field.
- When the game starts, players must rush to the center of the field and kick the football back toward their side of the field.
- The team that kicks the ball back to their side of the field past their starting line wins a point for their team
Giant Soccer Ball Race
Equipment Needed
2 Giant Soccer Balls
2 Bowling Pins (or poles to substitute if Pins are unavailable)
Setup
Establish a starting line. Place pins/poles 25 and 50 feet away from the starting line.
Object of the game
Race the soccer ball around the bowling pins/poles

- Each team must race one of our Giant Soccer Balls around the track in groups of 5 or less in a relay style. First team to complete the relay race wins.
Battle Soccer (requires 3 groups)

Jerseys / Wristbands
Setup
Setup the soccer goals in a triangle shape and place the balls in the center of the circle
Object of the game
Score as many goals as possible. Kickballs are 2 points and soccer balls are 1 point

- Standard Soccer rules, except there are 3-5 balls and 3 goals. Each team must learn how to defend and attack as a team.
- First team to 10 points wins. Kickballs are 2 points and soccer balls are 1 point.
Capture the Flag (requires 2 groups)

2 towels, footballs, or flags of some sort

Setup
Take all the ropes and make one giant circle with them.
Object of the game
Grab the flag and bring it back to your side of the field without being touched
Rules
- Each team tries to take the other team’s flag and return across the center line without being tagged.
- When guarding the flag zone or the holding zone, a defender must be at least 2’ away from the zone boundaries.
- If a player is tagged while on their opponent’s side they are must go to the holding zone on their opponent’s side.
- If a player who has stolen the flag is tagged, the flag is returned to the flag zone, and the player goes to the zone.
- A player can be freed from the holding zone when a teammate crosses the center line and tags the player; both players then receive a free walk back to their side.
- A player can only free one teammate at a time.
- If an opposing player can get both feet into the flag zone without being tagged, they can remain there without safely (without getting tagged) before attempting to cross the center line.
Doctor Dodgeball (requires 2 groups)

Setup
Create a full court basketball court with 20 or so cones. Add 10 or so dodgeballs.
Object of the game
Classic Dodgeball with a twist
Rules
- Each group must select a Team Doctor
- If you are out from getting hit, dropping a ball, etc instead of leaving the game, players must simply take a knee.
- If the doctor touches you while you’re on a knee, you’re back in the game and can resume throwing
- The game is over when everyone from one of the teams, including the doctor, is out
Castleball

Object of the game
Destroy the other teams hula hoop castles
Rules
- Play begins with both teams have built one (or more depending on number of players and hula hoops) castles on their side of the play area.
- Soft foam dodgeballs–approximately one ball per five players or as available–are used to attempt to knock down the other team’s castle while protecting your own.
- One point is awarded each time a castle is knocked down, even if a player bumps into his/her own castle.
- Castles that are knocked down should be set up as quickly as possible so players can continue playing. The other team may not throw at a castle while it is being built.
- The game is separated by a center line, which players cannot cross to retrieve a ball.
- Players should be encouraged to pass the ball to teammates to surprise the defenders or to make sure everyone gets to throw the ball.
- In defending the castle, players should be alert, on the balls of their feet, and cooperate with their teammates to form strategies that will best defend their “castles”.
- Once all castles are knocked down a new round is started.
Human Foosball

Setup

Object of the game
Classic Volleyball, Dodgeball or Open Jump
Rules
- Decide which game you want to play (volleyball, dodgeball, or open jump)
- Split group into two teams
- Take 5 from each team and place them in the bounce house
- Start the game.
- For Volleyball, connect the net that’s in the bounce house and grab the giant volleyball
- For Dodgeball, throw the dodgeballs in the bounce house and go over the 3 rules
- Rule 1 – each team starts with one hand against the back wall
- If hit by a ball, move over to the side and sit against the wall out of the way.
- Remember the order you were out because if someone from your team catches a ball then you’re back in.
- There’s no center line.
- For Open Jump, rotate the group every 5-6 min or so. 10 people max in the bounce house.
Zombie Dodgeball
Equipment Needed
10 or so Dodgeballs

Cones
Setup
Create a full court basketball court with 20 or so cones. Add 10 or so dodgeballs.
Object of the game
Classic Dodgeball with a twist
Rules
One volunteer / selected player starts out as the zombie and all the remaining players are humans.
Only Zombies can throw dodgeballs.
Each round the Team Zombies have 30 seconds to hit one player from Team Humans
Team Humans are required to kick the dodgeballs back in order to keep the clock moving
If someone from Team Humans gets hit by the ball, they join Team Zombie and attempt to assimilate all humans
If all Humans become zombies, then Team Zombie wins.
If Humans survive a 30 second round of throws, then Team Humans win.
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Equipment Needed
100 Ball pit balls in a bag
20-30 Circular Cones
2 Bins
Setup
Place 2 bins 10 feet apart. Place the 100 ball pit balls and circular cones in the middle.
Object of the game
Each team must collect as many balls as possible without using their hands and place it in the bin
Rules
- Each team must elect 2 throwers. The throwers will take their position next to the bag of pit balls in between the bins. All remaining players will become “Hippos” and will be given a circular cone.
- Hippos must pick up ball pit balls rolled to them by the Throwers without using their hands and place them in their teams bin.
- The first team to 30 wins
Joust
Equipment Needed
Two joust pedestals
Two joust sticks
Setup
Place the pedestals 3 feet apart and the joust sticks nearby
Object of the game
Knock your opponent off the pedestal
Rules
Select two equally matched players for jousting.
Connect 4 Relay
Equipment Needed
Giant Connect 4 Game
Cones
Setup
Create a starting line with the cones
Place Connect 4 game 20-30 feet away from the starting line
For more fun, create a path for the players must follow on their way to game board
Object of the game
Get Connect 4 before the other team
Rules
Split into two teams
Ensure both teams know the rules of Connect 4 and the path they must take before placing a piece
Also, make sure both teams understand each player places one piece on the board each visit
Jenga Battle
Equipment Needed
Giant Jenga Setup
Cones
2 Baseball bats
Setup
Create a starting line with the cones
Place Jenga game 20-30 feet away from the starting line
For more fun, create a path for the players must follow on their way to game board. Also make them spin around the baseball bat 2-3 times before attempting to remove a piece
Object of the game
Standard Jenga Rules, but because this is a relay, you have to keep count of the # of pieces each team moves to the top of the Jenga Tower before it falls.
Rules
- Split into two teams
- Ensure both teams know the rules of Jenga and the path they must take before removing and placing a piece
- Also, make sure both teams understand each player places one piece on the top each visit and if the Jenga tower is still up after placing the piece, then that player earns one point for their team
- The team that knocks down the tower loses 3 points toward their final score
Back to Back Balloon Race
Equipment Needed
Two Balloons (or playground balls)
Cones or string (optional)
Setup
Create a starting line and a path each team has to follow in this relay race
Object of the game
Have your entire team transport the balloon/ball around the path without dropping it

Rules
- Have everyone partner up
- Then split the partnerships up into 2 or 3 groups
- Each pair in the group must transport a balloon/ball down the path you created using only their backs.
- Arms must also be above their head at all times to increase difficulty
Water Transfer Race
Equipment Needed
4 Buckets
2 towels/sponges/jerseys
Setup
Place 2 buckets full of water at the starting line
Place 2 empty buckets 20-30 feet away from the starting line
Give each team a towel/sponge/jersey
Object of the game
Fill your team’s empty bucket by transferring water from another bucket full of water 10-20 feet away
Rules
- Split everyone into two teams
- Give each team a towel/sponge/jersey
- Tell each team to fill up the empty bucket as fast as they can
